Contact MeBefore contacting me, please read the following FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to see if your question is already addressed there. Most of these questions are adapted from emails I have received. Thank you. --Dave Hirschman "I would like to enroll my son in your home school." "Can you send me some information on your homeschooling program?" No. I do not offer a "homeschooling program." The purpose of my web site is to help homeschoolers get in touch with each other and to offer useful resources for homeschoolers. "I'm trying to get some information on how to get my son enrolled in Home School." Again, what I am offering is not a "Home School Program." If you have a high school-age child who wants to earn a high school diploma, there are different ways to do that. See my High School Diploma page for some companies that can help you. Of course, there is a cost for these services. "How can I sign up for homeschooling? I do not know where to start." Homeschooling is not something that you "sign up" for. It is something that you do yourself. You need to do the research to find out how to do it legally in your area, which usually, but not always, involves getting approval from the local school district. NEVER, EVER contact the school people first. They will usually not be aware of the laws and will have you doing a lot more than you need to. ALWAYS know the score BEFORE you contact the school system. "I am looking for someone to homeschool my child." I don't know of anyone who does this. It is probably very unusual. I think you have the wrong idea about what homeschooling is. Homeschooling is "PARENTS deciding and directing the education of their children." Not necessarily doing all the teaching, but you are in charge. No one else is going to do it for you. Homeschooling is parents providing resources and learning opportunities, answering questions when they can, helping their children learn HOW to learn. "Please tell me how I can get started with homeschooling? I live in East Erewhon." I live in Texas. I have no idea where East Erewhon is, so I can't help you. Learn how to use the Homeschool Social Register to get in touch with local homeschoolers. And, see my Getting Started page, where I have links to several pages that have useful information for those who are new to homeschooling. Also, make sure to check out the state-wide homeschool organization in your state. I have links to these on my pages for each state. There you can learn what the procedures are for homeschooling in your state. "Hello, we are new at home schooling and would like to know about some support groups
in the tri county area." Again, I live in Texas, and I don't know where the "tri county" area is. On the Homeschool Social Register I have hundreds of links to support groups all over the U.S. and other countries. Drill down through the index to your town and see if anything is there. If not, start with a state-wide support group. Sign up on the Homeschool Social Register and use it to get in touch with other homeschoolers in your area. In short, you're going to have to dig in and do this research yourself. I'm not going to do it for you. "I am not sure if I can sign up on the Homeschool Social Register and contact other homeschoolers because I am not homeschooling yet." If you in the "just thinking about it" stage, you are still welcome to sign up and contact other homeschoolers. Usually they will be happy to talk to you and help you make your decision. "I am doing a research project on homeschooling for my Masters degree and would like to contact homeschoolers and ask them questions." You may NOT sign up on the Homeschool Social Register in order to contact other homeschoolers for purposes of research. Now, honestly, would you like it if someone else wanted to use YOU as a subject for his or her "research?" I didn't think so. However, I can give you a link where you can INVITE homeschoolers to participate in your research, if they want to. Navigate to the page for the town or county where you live (or go to my Research page), click the link near the bottom of the page that says "suggest a link for this page", and follow the instructions. "I am a reporter and I want to contact homeschoolers for a story I am doing about homeschooling." Sorry, I can't help you. I promise privacy to all who sign up on my web site. Your best bet is to contact a statewide homeschool support group. I have links to most of them - look through my Index. "Can you please link to my web site?" Yes, if it has something to do with homeschooling. But please use the form I have provided - that makes it much easier for me to add your link. Navigate through the Homeschool Social Register index until you get to the page where your link should appear, and click the link near the bottom of the page that says "Suggest a link for this page." You don't need to be a member of the Register to suggest a link. "I am a market researcher and I was wondering if you had a list of homeschooling households." I never give out that information. Privacy is very important to homeschoolers. "Who should I contact about offering classes to children who are homeschooled?" You MAY NOT use the Homeschool Social Register to contact people in order to sell them something. Do YOU like getting spam in YOUR in box? I didn't think so. However, I would be happy to give you a link on the appropriate page of the Homeschool Social Register, either to your web site or email address (this is safe because I obscure email addresses from spammer robots). Drill down into the Homeschool Social Register index until you come to the county or city page that represents the area you cover. Then click the link at the bottom of the page that says "suggest a link for this page" and follow the instructions. "Can I put a banner ad on your site?" I don't accept advertising at this time, but I can give you a link IF your product or service involves homeschooling. If the above did not answer your question, click here to .
